San Antonio Virtual Environments for Education & Training
SAVE-ET II: Speakers
Speakers at the 2009 conference in San Antonio will include:
- Keynote address: Col. John Thompson of the U.S. Air Force Air Education & Training Command (AETC), who will be presenting on MyBase, a virtual environment in “Second Life” that provides
- a platform educating the general public about the USAF
- information and access to entry into the military service
- and lifelong learning throughout an Air Force career and post-career years
- A special “in-world” panel presentation by well-known individuals and organizations working in Second Life.
- Presentations from the education community, including faculty and administrators of the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) and the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA).
- Presentations from the commercial/training community, including Online Training Support (providing support for writing tutoring in Second Life) and Whyville (a virtual world dedicated to teaching science and business to children and pre-teens).
- A practical “Virtual Worlds 101” for individuals who want to learn more about the virtual worlds and their uses and benefits.
